By signing the Net Zero Asset Managers Commitment, OP Asset Management and OP Real Estate Asset Management commit to working towards the initiative's climate goals.
OP Asset Management and OP Real Estate Asset Management have signed the Net Zero Asset Managers Commitment. We now commit to the goal of reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner, and working towards limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
“As an asset manager, we're responsible for investing and managing capital, but also do our share to combat climate change. Although climate-related risks have impacts on investing, the fight against climate change also brings investment opportunities. Taking account of these factors will become an integral part of investment when seeking returns and managing risks,” says Tuomas Virtala, Head of Asset Management.
Based on its commitment, OP Asset Management will intensify its collaboration with customers to attain the related goals, and strive to provide them with even better climate-related analysis and information. OP Asset Management also focuses on products that enable easy investment in climate solutions.
“The commitment doesn't mean completely excluding certain industries from our investments, because we also believe that investors can have an influence on companies. What counts is that companies in which we invest share our goal of net zero emissions by 2050 or sooner, and work towards it,” Virtala specifies.
