OP Uusimaa Summer jobs at OP Uusimaa
In the summer of 2025, OP Uusimaa had a total of 55 summer employees working in our various business units. We will again hire approximately 50 summer employees this coming summer to work in a variety of positions in Uusimaa and Kuopio.
Below you can read about the experiences of our summer employees who worked in basic services and financing for personal customers at OP Uusimaa in previous summers.
Responsible and meaningful summer work in personal customer financing
Joonatan, who is studying economics, worked in the personal customer financing team at OP Uusimaa during the summer. The job description consisted of projects to change the margin and reference interest rate, among other things.
"My work directly affected our customers' finances, so I had a lot of responsibility and a need for diligence. I felt that my work really mattered to both the customer and myself," Joonatan explains and continues: "I called OP Uusimaa customers, we discussed their financial situation and together we found the best possible options for them. The customers' situations were not always simple, and the diverse work offered a suitable amount of responsibility, new challenges, and learning new things throughout the summer."
Joonatan praises his summer work community as great; his teammates constantly cheered him on, praised him, and supported him.
"When problems arose, I always received help from my team members in the blink of an eye. One of the most memorable moments of the summer was the team evening, where we got to spend time together as a whole team and truly got to know each other. Working was even more enjoyable when you knew everyone," Joonatan says happily.
For those interested in summer jobs at the bank, Joonatan has the following advice:
"OP Uusimaa is a place where people with good communication skills, who dare to take on challenges and act on their own initiative thrive. You will certainly encounter challenging situations in customer service, so the ability to work under pressure is definitely beneficial. However, the most important qualities are enthusiasm and motivation – otherwise, you will definitely learn by doing!"
A diverse and interesting job description in everyday banking matters motivates
Our summer employees in basic personal customer services meet our customers face to face and by telephone at the bank's branches around the Uusimaa region. Nora, a business student, and Linda, a business administration student, brought joy to OP Uusimaa's Sello and Tikkurila branches last summer. The summer was the first in the banking sector for both of them.
"After happily accepting the summer job, I was both excited and nervous; I wondered what the everyday work of a customer advisor would be like and whether I could manage without previous experience. However, the new employee orientation to the job was diverse and interesting, and due to banking regulations, it also required accuracy and concentration from the employee," Nora remembers.
Both Nora and Linda were able to help OP Uusimaa customers with a variety of everyday banking matters during the summer. The broad job description and constant learning were a great fit for both of them.
"In practice, I help our customers with their finances and, through needs assessment - I try to find the right products and services for them. In cashier services, I helped customers, for example, deposit money and pay invoices. In information services, I guided customers with online service IDs, opening new accounts, and death estate matters, among other things. In addition, I referred our clients to our colleagues in areas such as personal customer financing and wealth management," Linda says.
"It was interesting to see how the bank is involved in the different life situations of our customers. During the same working day, I was able to open a Savings Account for a newborn, make the first card agreement for an enthusiastic child, and help a young person with their student loan matters. I was able to guide a couple to Pohjola Insurance when they bought a new home, advise a pensioner who was soon moving abroad on how to reorganise their banking affairs, and finally help a grieving widow with the estate matters," Nora explains. "Amid the rush, I never knew what the customer with the next queue number would come with. Throwing yourself into new situations was both demanding and a great learning experience."
After the summer, Nora continued working at the bank part-time in addition to her master's studies, while Linda returned to her business administration studies. Both highly recommend a summer job at the bank.
"As a summer employee at OP Uusimaa, you get to truly delve into the world of banking and, in my own experience, become an important part of an expert and friendly team. If you are looking for a responsible employer that cares about the wellbeing of its employees and values a wide range of competencies, OP Uusimaa could be a suitable summer job for you," Linda suggests.
