OP Account SMS sends a notification to your phone whenever money is either taken from or paid into your account. You therefore find out immediately when a bill is paid, and you can also opt for your account balance to be shown in the message.

OP Account SMS works on your mobile phone, and it therefore goes with you wherever you go. The messages do not show the recipient’s name, and you can choose yourself whether your account balance is displayed. If you have a joint account, you will also receive notifications of payments and credit transfers made by other account holders, which allows you to keep track of how much money is in the account.

How to activate OP Account SMS

Call our customer service or visit your local OP cooperative bank branch. Remember to take your mobile phone with you if you visit a bank branch to make an OP Account SMS agreement. You can only use OP Account SMS for your own account.

OP Account SMS is an SMS notification service that gives you a quick and easy way to find out what is happening with your account. To use OP Account SMS, you need an SMS-enabled mobile phone with a Finnish SIM card. The phone does not need to be a smartphone or have a touch screen.

OP Account SMS gives you an easy way to keep track of your account transactions without having to visit a cash machine or your bank in person. You get an SMS notification whenever a payment is taken from your account. You can also choose to have your account balance shown in the messages so that you always know how much money you have available to spend. If you have opened a joint account with someone or given a friend or a family member access to your account, you will also receive notifications of payments and withdrawals made by them.

The notifications give you a way to check your account transactions and balance without having to wait for a bank statement. If you do not have access to OP’s digital banking services, you will continue to receive bank statements for each of your current accounts by post once a month. OP Account SMS gives you peace of mind and a sense of control over your bank account and finances.

OP Account SMS costs EUR 2.90 per month. An additional monthly charge of EUR 2.00 applies if you have more than 70 transactions on your account in one month. If you are an OP cooperative bank owner-customer, we will debit the charges primarily from the OP bonuses that you have earned by using our services.

What is OP Account SMS? Who is it for and how does it work?

What is OP Account SMS?

OP Account SMS is a service that sends SMSes to account holders about their account transactions – payments, e-invoices and credit transfers. Also, real-time account balance can be included in these SMSes. The SMSes make it easy to follow your account’s status, ensure that payments are duly paid and to monitor the transactions of other possible users of the account.

Can OP Account SMS be enabled for any account?

You can activate OP Account SMS on any account on which you are a registered account holder. OP Account SMS is a personal service: for this reason, you cannot subscribe to notifications relating to an account opened in someone else’s name, even if that person has given you permission to use their account.

What information OP Account SMS sends and when?

OP Account SMS sends an SMS of all account transactions. You can select yourself whether the SMSes also show your account balance. For example, you receive an SMS each time you pay using your debit card at a store checkout or when the pension is paid into your account. Likewise, you receive an SMS on your phone when, say, the phone bill is debited from your account.

The SMSes arrive on daytime between 8.00 and 22.00 so they won’t wake you up at night. You will receive an SMS about account transactions made during the silent period in the morning after 8.00.

Does OP Account SMS work on all phones?

To use OP Account SMS, you will need a mobile phone with a Finnish mobile subscription that enables receipt of SMSes. The phone does not need to be a smartphone.

Is it safe to use OP Account SMS?

You can only subscribe to SMSes about transactions concerning your own account and to your own mobile phone. The recipient of SMSes cannot be identified based on the message content.

For whom is OP Account SMS suitable?

OP Account SMS is suitable for those of our customers who do not want to or cannot use our digital services or who do not have a smartphone. It supports daily banking and provides certainty about own account status.

How do I start using OP Account SMS?

You can start using OP Account SMS by by making a service agreement. To make a service agreement, please call our customer service at 0100 0500 (local/mobile network rate) or visit your OP cooperative bank branch.

How much does OP Account SMS service cost?

The monthly charge for OP Account SMS is 2.90 euros. If your account has more than 70 account transactions per month, an additional charge of 2.00 euros per month is charged.
