✓ If your matter concerns OP's user identifiers, you'll need a valid passport or identity card. This applies to cases such as having forgotten or lost your banking user identifiers.
✓ If you're becoming OP's customer and are applying for banking user identifiers at the same time, bring your Finnish passport or identity card.
✓ Your personal identity document must have a photo and be undamaged and valid.
Does your visit concern banking user identifiers?
In matters related to OP's user identifiers you'll need a passport or identity card.
- The passport or identity card must have been issued in Finland or elsewhere in the European Economic Area (EEA), San Marino or Switzerland.
- You also must have a Finnish personal identity code.
- We always ask for your passport or identity card when your matter is related to strong electronic identification. For instance, you can't apply for or order a new user ID without a passport or identity card.
- If your visit concerns activating a user ID and services for your child, you can also identify yourself with a driving licence.
- If your matter concerns corporate user identifiers or a user ID that can only be used on OP's digital services, we can serve you against a driving licence.
Proving identity in matters not concerning banking user identifiers
If your matter doesn't concern banking user identifiers or you're activating services for your child, the following identity documents issued by a Finnish authority are accepted:
- Passport, seaman's passport, diplomatic passport (excluding alien's passport)
- Identity card that indicates its period of validity
- Driving licence (granted to a Finnish citizen on or after 1 October 1990, excluding temporary, fixed-term, exchanged or mobile driving licence)
In matters other than those concerning banking user identifiers, you can also prove your identity with a passport or diplomatic passport issued by a foreign authority.
Your identity document must not be damaged or have expired. You must also be recognisable from its photo.
What to do if you don't have an acceptable identity document
If you're a Finnish citizen, we recommend that you apply for a passport. You can apply for an identity card at the same time. Read more about applying for a passport on the Police of Finland website
- If your matter concerns banking user identifiers but you don't have an identity document issued by a country in the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland or San Marino, you must have your identity verified at a police station.
- You also must request the police to verify your identity if you don't have an identity document accepted for proving your identity and you haven't been issued an alien's identity card.
- The police will verify your identify after which the police will post the certificate for initial identification by recorded delivery directly to the bank.
