Frequently asked questions

I lost my device that has Mobile key in it. What should I do?

You should deactivate the lost device’s Mobile key. To do so, call our customer service, Deactivation Service, visit a bank branch or log into op.fi (in Finnish or Swedish for private customers).

You can re-enable the Mobile key with your username, password and key code list.

Why does op.fi ask my username when I log in with Mobile key?

Based on your username, we send a confirmation request to your device where you enabled Mobile key.

What is Mobile key confirmation request ID? Why should I check it?

For example, when a confirmation request is sent from op.fi, op.fi shows the request’s ID (such as YF23). When you then confirm the request on OP-mobile or OP Business mobile, you should check that the app shows the same ID.

Note that each new confirmation request has a new ID.

What is Mobile key?

Mobile key is an identification method offered by OP. You can use it to identify yourself and confirm transactions. At the moment, you can use Mobile key on OP-mobile, OP Business mobile and op.fi. Going forward, Mobile key will also function in other services, including MyTax and Kela, and when confirming card payments or online payments.

To start using Mobile key, first download OP-mobile or OP Business mobile from your app store.

Where can I see if I have enabled Mobile key?

To view and manage your existing Mobile keys, go to the settings of OP-mobile or OP Business mobile, or log into op.fi (in Finnish or Swedish for private customers).

How does Mobile key differ from the key code list?

Mobile key is available for your personal use on your own device. It can’t be copied like the key code list. When you use Mobile key, you only need to remember one PIN, which you have selected yourself and which only you know.

How can I start using Mobile key?

You can enable Mobile key in a phone or tablet. Install our OP-mobile or OP Business mobile app. On first use, you’ll need your username, password and key code list. When you’re enabling Mobile key, you’ll receive a further confirmation SMS to the phone number that you have set as the further confirmation number for your user ID.

Read more detailed instructions on how to enable Mobile key on OP-mobile or OP Business mobile.

How does SMS confirmation work with Mobile key?

You need a device to which you can receive SMSes. The device’s phone number must be set as the further confirmation number for your user ID. If further confirmation is required, you’ll receive a confirmation code as an SMS to your phone. Open the SMS. Enter the code in the SMS to the confirmation view open in OP-mobile or OP Business mobile.

Receiving confirmation SMSes is free of charge for you. The SMS is automatic, so please don’t reply to it.

How do I confirm with Mobile key?

When you’re using OP-mobile or OP Business mobile, the app asks you to enter your Mobile key PIN when you log in or confirm a payment.

When you’re using op.fi or want to identify yourself to another service, you’ll receive a confirmation request to the phone or tablet where you enabled Mobile key.

  1. In the service, select Mobile key as your identification method and enter your username.
  2. On your phone or tablet, open OP-Mobile or OP Business mobile. If a confirmation request doesn’t open automatically, tap Confirm with Mobile key, which you see on the start screen.
  3. Always check the details in the confirmation request. Check that the confirmation request ID (for example YF23) is the same as the ID in the service.
  4. Confirm by entering your Mobile key PIN.

If further confirmation is required too, you’ll receive a confirmation code as an SMS to your phone. Check that the SMS details are correct. Enter the code in the SMS to the confirmation view open in OP-mobile or OP Business mobile.

How do I change my Mobile key PIN?

To change your Mobile key PIN, log into your app (OP-mobile or OP Business mobile) and go to Settings. If you have forgotten your Mobile key PIN, you need to delete your app, reinstall it and then enable Mobile key again.

Is Mobile key safe?

Yes. Mobile key meets the criteria of the new Payment Services Act for strong identification.

Mobile key is used in OP’s encrypted network and service. Other apps can’t access it. Using Mobile key means using your Mobile key PIN, a code that only you know. A Mobile key PIN only works in the device where you have enabled Mobile key.

Don’t reveal your Mobile key PIN to anyone. To ensure safety, you should also protect your device with an access code, or fingerprint or face recognition.

Do I need a smartphone or tablet to use Mobile key?

Yes. Mobile key functions on our OP-mobile and OP Business mobile apps. You can download them to your device from your device’s app store (App Store or Google Play). Your phone or tablet must also be connected to the internet.

Can I use Mobile key with several devices?

With your user ID, you can enable Mobile key in two devices, such as your phone and tablet. Mobile key is device specific.
