Lotus Tinat

Lotus Tinat, (born in 2000) began playing the violin at the age of five, having pestered her parents about it since the age of two. At seven, she began studies at the Helsinki Conservatory of Music, first with Jerzy Blaszkiewicz, then with Erkki Palola. Later, she was taught by Professor Kaija Saarikettu at the Sibelius Academy, both at the Junior Academy and during academic studies. She is currently studying under Sirkka-Liisa Kaakinen-Pilch and Professor Cecilia Zilliacus. Lotus has received further tuition in the masterclasses of Hagai Shaham, Réka Szilvay, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Barbara Doll, Elina Vähälä, Liza Ferschtman and Mi-Kyung Lee, among others.

Her competition achievements include final place in the Juhani Heinonen Violin Competition, third prize in the international Noor Muusik Competition in Tallinn (no first prize was awarded), and final place in the Kuopion Violin Competition in spring 2020. She has played as a soloist with orchestras including the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Kuopio City Orchestra, Seinäjoki City Orchestra and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra as one of the young soloists of 2019.

Lotus has a great deal of chamber music and orchestral experience, and she considers ensemble playing one of the most meaningful ways of making music. In Finland, she has performed with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta and the Orchestra of the Finnish National Opera, where she is substituting in the first violin section this season. Lotus has performed at events including the Kamarikesä Festival, Kaija Saariaho Festival, Savonlinna Music Academy’s Winter Festival Concert and the Åland Opera Festival.
