Opening an account for associations
It’s advisable for an association to open its own bank account to manage daily banking and monetary transactions. An authorised signatory for the association may open a bank account for the association
If the association is a new OP customer, please book an appointment a phone meeting, an online meeting or a meeting at a branch to open an account. You can book an appointment by calling our Customer Service at 0100 05151. An authorised signatory of the association who is also an OP customer can open a bank account for the association. For the scheduled appointment, you’ll need the following information and documents:
- The charter of the association. If necessary, you can get your association’s register data from the Finnish Register of Associations maintained by the Finnish Patent and Registration Office. Go to Register of Associations ›
- Information on persons to whom account access rights will be given (name and personal ID).
- What services will be linked to the account: such as a payment card, digital services and bank statements (digital or on paper)?
- What is the email address to which a notification of electronic signature will be sent?
Also remember our digital services. If your association has an agreement for digital services with OP, you can conveniently manage the association’s banking transactions on OP's mobile apps or the op.fi service. You can make the agreement for digital services while you open an account for the association at an OP cooperative bank branch.
If the association is already an OP customer and would like to open a second bank account, you can do so with a message at op.fi. Then you don’t need to separately send the minutes and the charter of the association.
Closing the association’s account
An authorised signatory for the association can close the association’s account with an online form by logging into the op.fi service.
