1. Set security limits for your accounts
A security limit determines how much money can be spent from your account in a day. It may prevent your account from going empty if your banking user ID falls into the wrong hands.
Do this: Log in to the op.fi service. Select My accounts – Account details and editing details – Usage limits. If you use OP-mobile, log in and select the account you want on the front page. Then, select the gear icon in the top right corner to access account settings.
2. Set security limits for your cards
Debit and credit card security limits may prevent your account from going empty if your card is stolen. You can set the security limits according to your consumption preferences and edit them at any time. For example, if you don’t normally withdraw any cash, you can set the withdrawal limit at zero.
Do this: Log in to the op.fi service. Select Cards – Edit spending and withdrawal limits. If you use OP-mobile, log in and select the card you’re using on the front page. Then, select the gear icon in the top right corner to access card settings.
3. Enable OP-mobile notifications
Enable OP-mobile notifications. They help you detect any unusual account and card transactions quickly and react on time.
Do this: Log in to OP-mobile. Select Customer info – Settings – Notifications, and then enable notifications. Also, go to settings on your smartphone or tablet to check that OP-mobile has the permission to send you notifications.
4. Activate OP Account SMS
If you’re only using the op.fi service or you aren’t using any OP digital services, OP Account SMS helps you keep updated on account transactions and balances. OP Account SMS sends a message to your phone whenever money is either taken from or paid into your account.
Do this: Call our Customer Service or visit our nearest branch. Ask a customer service representative to activate OP Account SMS for your account and check that the phone number in your customer information is correct. You can select whether you want to receive account messages in real time or as daily summaries.
5. Use a credit card when paying online
Often, credit cards offer better protection than debit cards if you don’t receive the product or service you have purchased or if the seller fails to comply with the agreement in any other way.
Do this: When making purchases online, select a credit card as the payment method. Before entering any information on the website, assess its reliability: can you find contact details and information about deliveries and returns on the website? Are the prices of products or services reasonable? Try to find reviews by other online store users.

6. Always check the payment recipient’s details
When making a payment in OP-mobile or the op.fi service, check that the IBAN account number you entered is correct. As a result, your money won’t end up in an incorrect account due to an incorrect account number.
Do this: Check that the account number was received from a reliable party and that you entered it correctly. If you activate e-invoices and direct payments, you don’t need to enter the payment recipient’s details separately.
7. Read any confirmation requests you have received with care
Transactions made with your banking user ID such as payments, agreements and loan applications are confirmed using the Mobile key or key code list. Confirmation requests are always sent in real time. If a criminal has discovered your payment card details or banking user ID, you may receive an unexpected confirmation request.
Do this: Check that the information in the confirmation request matches the transaction you’re performing at the time. If any of the information doesn’t match, is wrong, or you’re not using your user ID at the time, don’t confirm the transaction.
8. Protect your smart device and computer
Ensure that your computer, tablet and smartphone are protected. As a result, your personal data and banking details are better protected against viruses and other malware spread by criminals.
Do this: Protect all your devices using an up-to-date anti-virus program and firewall. Keep the operating systems and apps of your devices updated regularly to keep them safe and secure. Always use strong passwords and activate multi-factor authentication, if possible.
9. Make sure that a call received from OP is genuine
Scammers also place calls in the name of OP. This is why it’s important to make sure you’re talking to a genuine OP representative.
Do this: If the caller says that they’re from OP, say that you’d like to identify yourself with Customer Service using the OP-mobile app on your device. If you’re not allowed to do this, stop the call immediately. Then call our Customer Service 0100 0500 (local/mobile network rate) and say what happened.
We never ask you to identify yourself during a call through links or by requesting your banking user ID.
