How to send death estate documents and bills online

You can send death estate documents and bills conveniently online with the most common Finnish banking user identifiers. To send documents and bills via the service, scan them or photograph them with your phone or tablet. The files can be in PDF or JPG format. The maximum size of each attachment file is 5 megabytes (MB), and you can send up to 80 attachments at a time.

Send us documents

You can send us death estate documents online, including an extract from the population register, the estate inventory deed with appendices or a power of attorney.

We will review the estate inventory deed once all documents related to the estate inventory have been submitted. After we have received the estate inventory deed and all its appendices, we will review them. This will usually take a few weeks. When you send us documents, you agree to it that we can use them throughout OP Financial Group to manage the affairs of the death estate.

Please note that the death estate’s power of attorney must be signed by hand. A power of attorney sent to us via the service is not signed electronically. If you want to sign the power of attorney electronically, please contact our Customer Service.

Send us bills for payment

We process bills within five banking days. Submit the bills in good time so that we have enough time to pay them on the due date. This service is intended for paying bills before the estate inventory. After the estate inventory, the estate’s authorised agent can pay bills by using their own OP user IDs on OP-mobile or the op.fi service, if authorised to do so in the death estate’s power of attorney. After the estate inventory, bills can also be paid by using payment envelopes.

  • Before the estate inventory, the death estate’s account can only be used to pay the death estate’s primary bills, such as funeral costs and costs of administering the estate. Such bills must be addressed to the decedent or death estate.
  • Check that the information on the bill can be easily read (who the bill is addressed to, the payee and account number, amount, reference number, and due date). The bills must be copies or pictures of the official bills (with the barcode visible, if possible).
  • The debit account must be a current account. Bills cannot be paid from savings accounts (such as a high-yield account).
  • If you want to change the due date, write the due date of your choice on the bill by hand. Otherwise, bills will be paid on the due date specified on the bill.
  • We will charge a service fee for the payment of bills based on our list of charges and fees. If the due date is over five days away, the fee is €2.5 per bill. If you submit the bill later and its due date is past when we have processed it, the fee is €5 per bill.
  • If the decedent’s bank account has insufficient funds for paying the bills, we will send a notification of insufficient funds. The notification is subject to a charge specified in the list of charges and fees. We will send the notification primarily to the death estate in the op.fi service or by letter to the death estate’s address.
