The Para Junior Games were organised in 1984 for the first time, and since then, the event has offered over 10,000 children and young people their first experience with competitive sports. For many participants, the event has sparked a life-long interest in sport.
The different sports at the event range from athletics to swimming, shuttle relay, showdown and other sports that can adjust to the individual skills and interests of the participants. Both first-time participants and athletes that have later on represented Finland in the Paralympics have taken part in the event over the years. Of them, Henry Manni is currently the competition director.
- “Para Junior Games is a low-threshold event for trying sports. We are expecting approximately 500 competitors and their families. You can compete even if you have no prior experience with any of the sports,” says Manni.
The Finnish Paralympic Committee and OP Financial Group have signed a three-year partnership. For the first time, OP Financial Group will host Hippo Para athletics competitions at the event.
- “With OP’s support, we can keep the event free of charge,” says Manni.
The mascots of OP cooperative bank, Hanna and Henri Hippo, will be at Pajulahti to cheer on the competitors. All participants get Hippo medals.

Para Junior Games is a national sports event for children and young people with a disability, who need special support or who have had an organ transplant, held in Pajulahti from 26 to 27 November 2025.
