Current Account forms the basis of your daily banking services

As an OP cooperative bank owner-customer, you will now get 0.25% interest on your Current Account. Accrual of interest requires that the account and owner-customer membership are with the same OP cooperative bank.

As an OP customer, you will have access to comprehensive services helping you manage your finances and save. These include My financial balance and Money Box.

OP's user ID is the key to digital services

With an OP user ID, you can log into OP's services, confirm online payments, sign documents and applications and identify yourself on authorities' online services.

You make the most of your banking and insurance services and OP bonuses as an owner-customer

You can become an OP cooperative bank owner-customer at the same time as you become an OP customer. In that way, you will get discounts on banking and insurance services as well as OP bonuses which only owner-customers can earn. They will be automatically used to cover your banking service charges and insurance bills.

As an OP cooperative bank owner-customer, you will get daily banking services without monthly charges until the end of 2025. You also earn OP bonuses 40% more than normal in 2024.

To make your use of services as easy as possible, enable OP-mobile and Mobile key on your smartphone or tablet. On OP-mobile, you can handle your banking and insurance matters, like payments and loan repayments, cards, loss reports and much more – whenever or wherever you want.

How to become a customer

  • Fill in the application. You will need about 15 minutes of time, banking user identifiers issued by a Finnish bank and a phone on which you can receive SMSes. You will be able to transfer money to your new account the day after opening the account.
  • You will receive an SMS within two days. In the SMS, you will be instructed to return to this service and verify your identification again to get your OP user ID. You will receive your key code list and card by post.
  • The services are now available to you. You can transfer money to your new account right away. After you have received the OP user ID, you can log into OP's digital services. All your agreements will be saved in the op.fi service.

Switching from your old bank to OP

You can fill in the application digitally if

  • you are aged 18 or over and are legally competent
  • you are a citizen or dual citizen of a European Economic Area (EEA) country
  • you have a permanent address and domicile in Finland
  • your credit history is in order and you don't have a voluntary credit stoppage
  • your name or personal ID code are not on a sanctions list.

After you have become our customer, we will help you terminate the services of your current bank. To do this, you will need the details of your current banking services.

Our switching service for payment accounts provides you with support in measures related to switching an account to OP.

Example calculation for credit on OP Visa cards: The annual percentage rate of charge calculated on a credit amount of 2,000 euros is 19.73% (October 2023). This calculation does not include owner-customer benefits or other discounts. This calculation is based on the assumption that the card’s monthly charge is 2.95 euros, and the monthly account service charge is 3.50 euros, free e-invoices are in use, the credit interest rate, fees and charges are constant throughout the credit period, and the credit is repaid in 12 identical monthly instalments. The estimated total amount payable would be 2,193.83 euros.

OP Gold
Travel insurance, rental car insurance and event ticket insurance are issued by the insurance company Inter Partner Assistance SA/AXA. Product Protection Insurance is issued by Pohjola Insurance Ltd. The LoungeKey service is provided by Visa.

Apple Pay is provided by Apple. Google Pay and Google Wallet are trademarks of Google LLC.

The cards are issued by OP Retail Customers plc, which also acts as the policyholder for insurance products included in the card and as the contract customer for other additional services.

 

Becoming an owner-customer and member contribution

Your current customer relationship and any user ID in your use affects you becoming an owner-customer.

  • If you are an OP cooperative bank’s customer and have OP’s user ID, you can become an owner-customer by logging into the op.fi service. Become an owner-customer

  • If you are not an OP cooperative bank’s customer but you have another bank’s user identifiers and are interested in becoming an OP cooperative bank’s customer, become our customer online Become our customer easily online

Membership cooperative contribution

When joining us, you will pay an ordinary cooperative contribution as a one-time contribution, no other payments exist. In most banks, the amount of the membership cooperative contribution is 100 euros. You can find the amount of the membership cooperative contribution on the owner-customer application and in your OP cooperative bank.

If ever you decide to stop being an owner-customer, your membership contribution will be refunded to you in full. The cooperative contribution will be refunded after one year has lapsed from the end of the financial year during which the owner-customer membership was terminated.

However, OP cooperative banks have the right to refuse to refund the contributions according to the bank's rules. You can check the rules of the OP cooperative bank on the bank's op.fi page or in the head office.

Who can become an owner-customer?

Any person, entity or foundation using OP Financial Group’s services, irrespective of their nationality, can become an owner-customer.

Child as an owner-customer

A child can become an owner-customer. All guardians of the child sign together their underage child’s application for an owner-customer membership. By doing so, the parents also give their consent that their child will begin to earn OP bonuses.

If the membership contribution is paid using proceeds of the child’s own work, the child can him/herself sign the membership application and pay the membership contribution.

Owner-customer terminates the membership

The owner-customer has, at any time, the right to terminate their owner-customer membership by informing their OP cooperative bank of this in writing. The owner-customer membership termination date is the date on which the OP cooperative bank has received the termination notice.

Death of owner-customer

An owner-customer membership will terminate on the death of the owner-customer. In the distribution or partition of the deceased person’s estate, the death estate can transfer the deceased person’s owner-customer membership, generally either to widow/widower or heir.
