Dog insurance guarantees best treatment
Dogs, just like us people, can have all sorts of accidents. If you take out comprehensive Dog Insurance, you can give your dog the best possible treatment without having to worry about the vet’s bill.
Dog Insurance covers veterinary expenses, x-ray and lab tests and medication sold in pharmacies, and we hope that your animal friend will be better soon. If you like, you can just take out Animal Insurance, which only covers if your dog disappears or dies because of an accident or illness.
Dog Insurance provides cover for puppies, too
Dog Insurance is worth taking for a small puppy that is only beginning to learn about the world. We grant Dog Insurance to puppies just six weeks old, both for pedigree dogs and mongrels.
Dog Insurance may be granted to dogs under the age of 7. The insurance provides cover against Illness and accidents throughout the dog’s life with no upper age limit. To get the best cover for your dog, select a maximum compensation of 3,000 euros for your insurance. Please note that death cover and liability loss and damage covers included in Dog Insurance expire after your dog turns 10 years.
What does dog insurance cover?
Dog insurance coverage depends on the individual cover options you have chosen for the insurance policy. Medical treatment expenses insurance covers the cost of visits to a vet, examinations and medications, for example. Animal liability insurance covers damage caused by the dog to others for which you are legally liable. Dog insurance also compensates for the loss or death of the dog.
Choose your covers and customise a Pohjola Dog Insurance that best suits your dog.

Dog Insurance is granted on the basis of the health declaration
Dog insurance and other forms of animal insurance are issued on the basis of a health declaration. Submitting the health declaration is easy online when buying insurance.
Dog Insurance can often be granted even if the dog is not fully fit. The decision is always made on the basis of the health declaration.
Dog Insurance compensates the treatment expenses of illnesses that started after the insurance was taken out, and also accidents, so as a rule no illness that existed before the insurance was taken out will be compensated. If you take out a policy for your dog while it is still young and healthy, you will get the best possible coverage.
Which factors affect the price of dog insurance?
The price of dog insurance depends on your dog’s characteristics, such as breed and age, your place of residence, and the scope of your insurance cover. The price of dog insurance is also affected by the maximum compensation, sum insured and deductible you select for the covers. The cheapest dog insurance is not always the best option, as insuring your furry friend as comprehensively as possible will often affect the total price of your dog insurance.
Does a dog need to be insured?
Dog insurance is not mandatory, but it helps you ensure that your dog will get good treatment, as well as secure your personal finances in the event of unexpected costs. The cost of medications, visits to a vet, and laboratory and X-ray examinations can be surprisingly high. Dog insurance compensates for expenses of up to €3,000 during an insurance period of one year.
The accidental death of a pet kept in the home will be compensated for up to 1,500 euros under MyHome Insurance.
Vet’s bills and death of a pet caused by illness, however, will be compensated under the dog’s or cat’s own insurance. Dog or cat insurance can also be taken out without home insurance.
Please note that home insurance does not cover loss or damage caused by a pet through chewing, tearing or scratching.
The insurance is issued by Pohjola Insurance Ltd.
