How can I earn OP bonuses?

All owner-customers earn OP bonuses and there is no maximum limit for how much OP bonuses you can earn. The more you use OP’s services, the more OP bonuses you earn. OP bonuses are a cooperative way to reward customers for using banking and insurance services. OP cooperative banks pay annually over 200 million euros worth of OP bonuses to their owner-customers.

OP bonuses are calculated at an annual level with the factor 0.25%. If you have 5,000 euros in your current account and loan worth 95,000 euros, your transactions total 100,000 euros. The factor for the amount of OP bonuses is 100,000 x 0.0025, and you will annually earn 250 euros in OP bonuses. The bonus table also shows you an assessment of how much you could earn OP bonuses.

For what are my OP bonuses used?

The OP bonuses in your bonus account are used to pay charges and fees that would otherwise be charged from your current account. OP bonuses are used automatically to offset charges and fees in the order that they form. The use of OP bonuses is completely automatic. OP bonuses are used, for example, for:

  1. daily banking services (current account, OP eServices, OP-Visa card)
  2. loan service and origination fees
  3. home, family and vehicle insurance premiums
  4. custody and subscription fees for savings and investments
  5. fees for legal services and OP Koti realty commissions.

At op.fi, you can easily check for which banking service charges and insurance premiums your OP bonuses have been used each month. A minimum balance of 10 euros is always left in your bonus account for the payment of banking service charges. Any unused OP bonuses will expire after five years from the time you earned them. Owner-customers will get a notification of any expiring OP bonuses two months before the expiration date.
