OP-Finland Small Cap
The power of Finnish growth companiesSmall means growth potential
OP-Finland Small Cap is an equity fund which mainly invests its assets in equities of listed SMEs in the Finnish equity market. The fund typically invests its assets in some equities of some 30–50 companies. This number may vary depending on the portfolio manager's view.
OP-Finland Small Cap offers investors the expertise of an active portfolio manager. For your investment capital, you will also enjoy much greater diversification benefits with this fund than what could be achieved with a self-made equity portfolio. This fund is a good match for an investor interested in Finnish companies and seeking decent returns while tolerating high price volatility. We mainly recommend the fund to investors who intend to redeem their units after seven years at the earliest.
Patience will be rewarded
Investing in small-cap companies may call for patience. They might show more volatile performance than large-cap companies and realisation of return potential may sometimes take a long time. Research suggests, however, that patience will be rewarded in the form of above-average returns from small companies.
From the point of view of an individual investor, making direct equity investments in small-cap companies may be somewhat challenging. Business information is often less readily available on small companies than on larger companies. Furthermore, small firms do not yet have a strong track record and their operations may be exposed to risks that larger companies do not have to face. Investing through the fund is, however, easy because the investments are diversified across several small cap companies on an extensive basis. At the same time, the portfolio manager actively monitors the financial standing and risks of the companies.
