The travel insurance is valid for travel abroad if 50% of the costs of travel (transport and accommodation) have been paid using OP Gold’s credit feature.

Event ticket insurance covers event tickets without deductibles

  • Covers theatre, concert or event tickets if you are unable to attend the event due to falling ill or another serious reason.
  • The insurance is valid automatically when you buy the tickets with the Gold credit feature.
  • Event ticket insurance also covers tickets you buy for family members or friends.
Thanks to the Gold Event ticket insurance, you will no longer need to buy separate cancellation insurance for event tickets for cases where you fall ill. The Gold Event ticket insurance has no deductible and the maximum compensation for the tickets is 1,000 euros. That is why it makes sense to pay for your entire group’s tickets with the Gold credit feature.

Sometimes, you suddenly fall ill right before an event you’ve been looking forward to. For example, if you’ve bought tickets to a soccer match and you fall ill and are unable to attend the match, the Event ticket insurance will cover the tickets if you have a doctor’s certificate before the start of the event.

You can apply for compensation under Event ticket insurance if you are unable to use the event tickets for any of the following reasons:

  • you fall ill or are seriously injured, and have a doctor’s certificate for the illness or injury.
  • your vehicle is stolen or you are involved in an accident with the vehicle within 48 hours before the event.
  • your home is broken into or suffers from flood or fire damage which requires you to stay home.
  • you move more than 100 km away from the event site due to a new workplace.
  • in the event of your death or the death of a family member.

Event ticket insurance also covers tickets for events taking place abroad.

  • Event ticket insurance is valid when you buy the tickets with the OP Gold credit feature. Event ticket insurance covers tickets you have bought with the Gold card up to 365 days before the event.
  • If attending the event is not possible, Event ticket insurance will compensate you for tickets that have been bought with the Gold card for you and other persons (maximum of 4 adults and 2 children).
  • Event ticket insurance does not cover cancellation of an event by the organisers.
  • Event ticket insurance does not cover season passes.

If you or another person you have bought tickets for with Gold is unable to attend the event due to falling ill or another serious reason, you can file a claim application for the unused ticket. You can file the claim application online.

To file a claim application, you will need a doctor’s certificate confirming that the illness or bodily injury was serious and prevented attendance of the event, or a certificate regarding the theft, breakage or accident.

Event ticket insurance is provided by Inter Partner Assistance SA/AXA.

  • The Aspire Lounges are located in the Schengen area near gates 13 and 27 and the Plaza Premium Lounge in the non-Schengen area near gate 40.

Forget the busy and crowded airport concourses – enjoy the peace and privacy of a lounge. You can start your holiday by enjoying the lounge and catering services or by relaxing before the connecting flight. With LoungeKey, you will have access to lounges at over 600 airports in more than 120 countries around the world.

Your OP Gold card includes LoungeKey membership and two free-of-charge lounge visits per year (1 January–31 December). You can use the free visits yourself, or invite one of your travelling companions to join you in the lounge free of charge on the first visit.

After using your free visits, you can still make use of your LoungeKey membership. Each visit after the free visits will cost €30 per person. You can take one or several guests into the lounge, and you will be charged via your OP Gold credit feature for any fees payable.

You will have access to the lounges regardless of your airline or flight class.

Lounges always offer refreshments, hot and cold beverages and snacks, as well as breakfast, lunch or dinner, depending on the time of day. Additionally, you can make use of the Wi-Fi, read newspapers or magazines, or work in the comfortable and quiet premises available.

Many lounges also offer the possibility of showering and resting. More detailed lounge-specific information and services can be found conveniently in the LoungeKey app and on the website of the Plaza Premium Lounge service.

If you have already registered with the service, do as follows:

Before starting your journey, log into the LoungeKey service and check that your previously filled in card details are up to date. While logged in, you can also check which lounges are available at the airports you will use. Also remember to take your physical OP Gold card with you to the lounge.

Do as follows if you have not yet registered with the service:

Before you first use an airport lounge, activate your membership by creating a LoungeKey account and register your card number (OP Gold card’s credit facility number) with the LoungeKey mobile app or at loungekey.com/opgold.

When registering, you will need your OP Gold card and OP’s Mobile key or key code list. Registration is done in English.

Choose your registration method

If you want to use the LoungeKey mobile app to register

  1. Download the LoungeKey mobile app from the app store on your phone. It is available from Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
  2. Open the LoungeKey app and choose ”Don’t have an account?”.
  3. Create a user account and fill in the requested personal and card details.

If you want to register at www.loungekey.com/opgold

  1. You can register via the web page from your computer or phone browser.
  2. Select ”Create your account”.
  3. Create a user account and fill in the requested personal and card details.

Registration security has been improved by LoungeKey so – as when purchasing items online – you’ll need your OP User ID and Mobile key or a traditional key code list to confirm your registration. This will involve a preauthorisation of 1 euro, which will not be debited. Remember to check that purchase payments are allowed for online and in-app purchases with your card.

What should I bear in mind when using an airport lounge?

  • Take your physical OP Gold card with you on your journey.
  • Please note that, if you used the mobile app to register with the service, the digital QR code provided by the app may not be enough to get you into the lounge. The digital version of your card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet will not give you lounge access either.
  • When you arrive at the lounge, tell the staff that your card is covered by the LoungeKey programme. This will ensure that you can use your free visits.
  • The person at reception will check your boarding pass and the validity of your OP Gold card. If you have no free-of-charge lounge visits left, your card will be debited for the visit. At this point, you may be asked for further confirmation, which you can give using Mobile key or your key code list. Remember to check that purchase payments are allowed for online and in-app purchases with your card.

The LoungeKey service is provided by Visa.

Product Protection Insurance provides cover for your purchases and is included with owner-customer cards

  • As an owner-customer, you will get a refund if the product you purchased breaks or is stolen within one year from the time of purchase.
  • You won’t need to buy separate insurance for new items, such as phones.
  • The deductible is only 75 euros, which is less than with a traditional home insurance.

Accidents happen to all of us from time to time, from dropping a phone on the floor to spilling coffee on a laptop or breaking your brand-new glasses.

Product Protection Insurance covers purchases made with Gold against breakage. In other words, you won’t need to buy separate insurance for new items, such as phones.

The insurance covers credit and debit purchases made with OP Gold, meaning your purchases are always insured if you pay for them with OP Gold.

The insurance provides cover for the purchases for 365 days or one year from the cardholder receiving the product.

Product Protection Insurance covers the purchases whether you pay for them online, at a brick-and-mortar location or through a service like Apple Pay.

Does the insurance have a deductible or maximum compensation amount?

In the event of loss, the insurance has a deductible of 75 euros. The maximum compensation per item is 2,000 euros.

If something happens, filing a loss report is simple on OP-mobile or at op.fi.

Rental car insurance covers the deductible if an accident happens

  • In the event of an accident, the insurance covers expenses up to 2,000 euros in Finland and abroad.
  • The insurance is also valid if the car is being driven by the cardholder’s spouse or child aged under 25.

For example, if your car is scraped by another car in the parking lot, someone collides with your rental car or a stone breaks your windshield, rental car insurance provides you with cover up to 2,000 euros for expenses that the car rental company charges you. In other words, you won’t need expensive supplementary insurance policies or deductible reduction fees from car rental policies.

In addition to the cardholder, the insurance is valid when the car is being driven by the cardholder’s spouse, common-law spouse or child aged under 25, if the cardholder has been designated as the primary driver.

Rental car insurance covers passenger cars, estate cars, and vans which can transport a maximum of nine people, can be driven on public roads, and have a retail selling price of under 60,000 euros. The insurance is valid for a maximum of 30 days. Rental car insurance does not cover the deductible applied to a replacement car or leased car.

The rental car insurance is valid if you have paid for the car rental with the OP Gold credit feature, in addition to the other travel expenses. For journeys abroad, at least 50% of the total travel expenses must have been paid, and for journeys in Finland, either a pre-booked accommodation (minimum 2 nights) or transport must have been paid.

The Gold cardholder must be designated as the primary driver in the car rental agreement. The cardholder must also be at least 21 years old and under 80 years old, and they must have a valid driving licence.

Prepare for journeys by having two cards

It’s sensible to always have two cards with you when you travel. This way, if a card is lost or damaged, you already have a backup plan ready. It’s advisable to keep the cards carefully separate from each other, such as in separate wallets, or by keeping one of the cards in the hotel safe deposit box. This makes it much less likely for both of them to be lost or stolen at the same time.

Credit card company cover for credit purchases helps if problems occur

  • Under the Consumer Protection Act, you can apply for a refund from your credit card company if a retailer breaches a sales contract for a purchase made with credit.

You can seek a refund from the credit card company if

  • the product you purchased is lost in transit
  • the product you purchased is not delivered to you
  • there is a defect with the product that the vendor will not compensate you for, or
  • the vendor has gone bankrupt.

For example, in a situation where a tour operator cancels your journey and does not compensate you for it, or an airline goes bankrupt before the start of your journey, you can seek a refund.

Under the Consumer Protection Act, credit card company cover for credit purchases is valid for any purchases you make with your credit card. You can make the purchase online, at a brick-and-mortar location, or through a service like Apple Pay, in Finland or abroad.

In other words, using the credit feature gives you better cover for your purchases than other payment methods.

Does the cover for credit purchases have a deductible or maximum compensation amount?

The credit card company cover for credit purchases does not have a deductible or maximum compensation amount.

If you encounter a situation where a vendor is in breach of a contract, issue a complaint to the credit card company by following the instructions.

Read the instructions for issuing a complaint

Under the Consumer Protection Act, you can apply for a refund from your credit card company if a retailer breaches a sales contract for a purchase made with credit. The credit card company cover for credit purchases provides you with cover for different breach-of-contract situations with the vendor, such as when a product you purchased is lost in transit.

As an owner-customer of an OP cooperative bank, you have 365-day credit card company cover for debit and credit purchases, which insures your card purchases once you receive the product, providing cover against breakage of the product, for example.
