Moped insurance to meet your needs
You can supplement your moped’s motor liability insurance with Maxi Motor Insurance or Medium Motor Insurance.
Price per season
The seasonally rated moped insurance is valid throughout the year, but the winter price is automatically lower than in the summer.
As an owner-customer, you will get a discount on your policies and also receive OP bonuses.
Moped insurance covers both the rider and the moped
A moped gives both younger and older drivers a chance to get around independently. Motor liability insurance is mandatory for mopeds, covering any personal injuries to the driver and any passengers and losses to the innocent adverse party.
A moped’s motor liability insurance does not cover your own moped’s losses, but you can prepare against them with comprehensive motor vehicle insurance. Maxi Motor Insurance also covers any collisions, which Medium Motor Insurance does not.
Moped insurance covers, for example, if
- your moped is stolen
- your moped is vandalised
- you have an accident in which your moped is damaged.
Take out moped insurance under the name of the adolescent using it
Often a moped is the first motor vehicle used independently by adolescents in traffic. To ride a moped, you have to know the traffic rules, have a driving licence in addition to being careful and at least 15 years of age.
A moped or scooter insurance must be taken out under the name of the vehicle’s primary user. If the user is 15-17 years old, the insurance is granted with the parent’s consent. To do this, please contact our customer service.
If you have temporarily decommissioned your moped from traffic use, remember to recommission it before you leave for a ride again.
Seasonally rated moped insurance saves time and money
Moped insurance is seasonally rated, so you do not have to interrupt it for price reasons for the winter, for example. So your moped insurance is valid throughout the year but the lower rates of the winter months have taken into account that people use their mopeds rarely or not at all during that time.
Thanks to the seasonally rated insurance, you or the minor policyholder does not have to decommission the moped for the winter months even if it was not used then. And once spring arrives, you can start using the moped as soon as the weather permits it, because the insurance is always valid. If the moped will not be used for a whole summer, for example, you can still decommission it and get a refund on the premiums.
Accidents can be prevented by being careful and by following safety regulations.
A moped must always be stored locked or in a locked space. A moped is properly locked when the keys are out of the ignition and the steering lock or the immobiliser is activated. In the absence of such devices, the moped must be locked with a brake, chain or cable lock to prevent unauthorised use.
It is also good to remember that mopeds may not be tuned, as riding a tuned in traffic moped is illegal.
