OP Uusimaa's sustainability and corporate responsibility work is based on the bank's values, mission and sustainability programme. We do such work to promote sustainable business and support the wellbeing of people and companies in our part of Finland.

OP Uusimaa's sustainability programme

OP Uusimaa's sustainability programme brings together the bank's key sustainability themes, goals and actions. Its priorities take account of OP Pohjola's nationwide sustainability programme and OP Uusimaa's business targets and business environment goals.

OP Uusimaa's sustainability programme is divided into three themes: climate, nature and the environment; people and communities; and corporate governance. The programme is confirmed annually by the bank's Board of Directors.

Local action in Uusimaa survey

Each year, we ask our owner-customers what kind of sustainability actions they would like us to take. The results of this survey guide our social responsibility actions and decisions. Although the response options are based on the main themes of our sustainability programme, respondents can also provide open-ended feedback. The next survey, in autumn 2026, will be the fifth of its kind.

Measuring and reporting on sustainability targets

OP Uusimaa is committed to fulfilling OP Pohjola's sustainability programme; its related reports form part of OP Pohjola's sustainability reporting. Guidance on safe and independent use of banking services

We aim to ensure that customers get the support they need for independent and safe use of digital and non-digital banking services. Accordingly, we help them to use banking services securely. The idea is to give customers the confidence they need to use banking services independently and in the way that best suits them. Are you a young person coming of age, an adult acting on behalf of a child or older parent, or someone getting used to Finland's service culture or who does not use digital devices? We will help you to use our banking services.

Financial literacy for young people

We strengthen the financial literacy of children, young people and adults to give everyone equal opportunities to manage their own financial wellbeing. This is because we believe that financial skills promote daily security, future planning and financial sustainability throughout life. That is why we offer financial literacy advice and coaching in schools and other educational institutions, and in cooperation with our local partners.

Supporting biodiversity

OP Uusimaa supports the Ketosirkka project, run by the Uusimaa Regional Chapter of the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation to prevent biodiversity loss. Endangered traditional landscapes and other natural assets are being conserved in around 60 locations across Uusimaa. Our support enables the conservation of sites such as traditional landscapes that are home to countless rare and endangered plant and animal species. Biodiversity also helps to mitigate climate change impacts. In 2023–2025, we provided almost 600,000 euros for the protection of biodiversity. This cooperation will continue in 2026.

Support for medical research to benefit children and young people

OP Uusimaa supports research, performed at the New Children's Hospital, on medicines and medical devices for children and young people. Despite the fact that children are not small adults, many medications have only been extensively studied in fully grown people. We are therefore supporting the development of more effective, better researched and safer medical care for children and youngsters. In this, our partner is the Association of Friends of the University Children's Hospitals. In 2023–2025, we gave around 600,000 euros for this important work. This cooperation will continue in 2026.
