Mobile payment app Pivo will be closed down

Customers will be able to use Pivo normally throughout the summer. In future, OP will focus on the development of phone number-based payment on OP-mobile.

OP Financial Group’s mobile payment app Pivo will be closed down on 4 September 2024. Customers will be able to use the app normally until that date. Pivo was introduced in 2013, and it has been available to any bank’s customers. The service has more than one million registered users.

"We would like to thank all users of Pivo for their support during these past years. Unfortunately, it has been challenging to successfully run a mobile wallet by one service provider for one country amidst intensifying global competition," said Masa Peura, Senior Vice President of Everyday Banking at OP Financial Group.

In future, OP will focus on developing OP-mobile and its mobile payment features. At present, the mobile payment options that OP provides to its customers include Apple Pay, Google Pay and Siirto. OP customers can make phone number-based payments to other OP customers on OP-mobile and to Nordea customers on Siirto.

"Mobile payment is easy, fast and safe. We retain our goal of providing our customers with the best possible payment services by forming partnerships and developing our own services," says Peura.

Students have been able to use a digital student card in Pivo. They will be able to continue using it normally until 4 September 2024. For the school/academic year 2024–2025, students should switch to some other student card provided by their student organisation.
