OP involved in the EtäTET remote traineeship week by Finance Finland to provide valuable work experience for teens

This April, OP Financial Group will join the EtäTET campaign organised by Finance Finland to provide valuable first work experience for hundreds of young people. During the day with OP Financial Group, teens will gain practical experience in job and finance skills in the OP x Money Talk financial literacy class, among other sessions. The day’s programme will also include last-minute tips for summer job hunting and interesting career stories from the financial sector.

“Improving financial literacy in Finland is one of the focal points of OP Financial Group’s corporate responsibility work. Financial skills and job skills are closely related, and it is important that young people are given opportunities to get to know the world of work. The lessons we learn while young follow us far into adulthood. Here at OP, we are also excited about EtäTET and look forward to the chance to learn something from young people,” says Tuuli Kousa, Chief Communications and Corporate Responsibility Officer at OP Financial Group.

Nearly 300 students from all over Finland, mostly from middle schools with a few general upper secondary schools also taking part, have signed up for the Finance Finland EtäTET campaign. Young people will attend a traineeship week (TET) at Finance Finland and businesses in the financial sector from 19 to 23 April 2021.

They will participate in the traineeship remotely from home or school, depending on the school’s and student counsellor’s instructions. During the EtäTET week, young people will work on real-life tasks for participating businesses. After completing all the tasks and attending all teaching during the week, young people will receive a TET letter of reference that can be used when applying for summer jobs, for example.

The financial sector is the first industry in Finland to offer a fully remote traineeship week (TET) for middle school students from 19 April to 23 April 2021.
