Have a say as an owner-customer!

The new Uudenmaan Osuuspankki (OP Uusimaa) will result from a merger between Helsinki Area Cooperative Bank, OP Itä-Uudenmaan Osuuspankki and the old Uudenmaan Osuuspankki. The new Uudenmaan Osuuspankki needs owner-customers to get involved and make an impact. Now is your chance to have a say, by voting or standing for election to your bank’s Representative Assembly.

Owner-customers can vote in the elections for the Representative Assembly of the new Uudenmaan Osuuspankki to be held in November. Owner-customers of the new Uudenmaan Osuuspankki can vote if they had become owner-customers of the Helsinki Area Cooperative Bank, the old Uudenmaan Osuuspankki or Itä-Uudenmaan Osuuspankki by 31 May 2022 at the latest.

A total of 100 members will be elected to the Representative Assembly of the new OP Uusimaa from four electoral districts in 2022:

  • A total of 20 members will be elected from the Itä-Uusimaa electoral district (currently the OP Itä-Uusimaa operating region)
  • 18 members will be elected from the Länsi-Uusimaa electoral district and 32 from the Keski-Uusimaa electoral district, in other words 50 members (currently the OP Uusimaa operating region)
  • A total of 30 members will be elected from the Helsinki electoral district (currently the OP Helsinki operating region)

This is an opportunity to participate in decision-making by your OP cooperative bank and promote the vitality of your region.

Voting

The Representative Assembly elections will be held from 7 to 17 November 2022. Each owner-customer will receive confirmation of their voting rights via the op.fi service, OP-mobile or in a letter delivered by post.

All owner-customers of the new Uudenmaan Osuuspankki can vote if they had become owner-customers of the current Helsinki Area Cooperative Bank, Uudenmaan Osuuspankki or Itä-Uudenmaan Osuuspankki by 31 May 2022 at the latest.

We hope that as many of our owner-customers as possible vote and have a say in these elections.

Standing as a candidate for the election

We need the participation of active owner-customers who take an interest in shared issues and have expertise of their own to contribute in Representative Assemblies. Representative Assembly members need no special knowledge of banking, it’s their attitude that matters.

Any reputable person who uses the services of the bank in question, had joined what is currently the Helsinki Area Cooperative Bank as an owner-customer by 31 May 2022 and will turn 18 years of age during the candidacy acquisition period may stand for election to a Representative Assembly.

Owner-customers of the new Uudenmaan Osuuspankki can stand for election if they had become owner-customers of the current Uudenmaan Osuuspankki or Itä-Uudenmaan Osuuspankki by 31 May 2022 at the latest.

You can register as a candidate online or at your OP cooperative bank branch from 25 August to 14 September 2022.

Your candidacy must be supported by one owner-customer of the new Uudenmaan Osuuspankki (OP Uusimaa), who must complete and sign an endorsement.  

Please note that employees or members of the board of directors and supervisory council of an OP cooperative bank may not stand as electoral candidates.

What is the Representative Assembly all about?

Elected from among your OP cooperative bank’s owner-customers, your Representative Assembly will adopt the OP cooperative bank’s financial statements and take key decisions on the bank’s activities. The Representative Assembly meets the once a year, as required by its rules.

If you become an elected member of your Representative Assembly, you can participate in training, engage in networking and attend meetings. You will gather knowledge and experiences that are useful in other areas of life. Being on the bank’s administrative body also provides an opportunity to promote business life and wellbeing.
