OP Critical Illness and Life Cover

Three kinds of cover in one package: critical illness, accidental permanent disability and life insurance.

Comprehensive cover

OP Critical Illness and Life Cover is a critical illness insurance. The insurance covers up to 17 critical illnesses common in Finland.

You will also be compensated for permanent disability caused by an accident.

The insurance also covers accidental permanent disability starting from disability category 8. The disability category is evaluated on a scale of 0 to 20, and permanent disability refers to an impairment of a person’s general functional capacity as the result of an accident.

Life insurance

Life insurance coverage is the same regardless of whether the death was caused by an illness or accident. The insurance also covers the insured person’s loved ones. If the insured person dies, the life insurance benefit is paid to their beneficiaries.

Compensation is paid out as a lump sum.

The insurance pays out compensation as a lump sum that can be used any way you prefer. The lump-sum compensation for critical illness and accidental permanent disability is paid to the insured person and the life insurance benefit to their beneficiaries.

The insurance is valid worldwide and at all times.

The insurance is valid worldwide during and outside work and without sports-related restrictions.

Comprehensive insurance for serious illness, accidental permanent injury insurance, and life insurance in the same package

We cannot prevent setbacks in life, but we can prepare for them. OP Critical Illness and Life Cover provides extra financial support in the event of a setback and means that you have one less thing to worry about. The insurance consists of three parts:

The lump-sum compensation helps you and your loved ones survive financially

  • You can choose the amount of compensation suitable for you. The amount can be up to 100,000 euros.
  • Compensation for a critical illness or permanent disability caused by an accident is paid to the insured person. The compensation is not subject to income tax.
  • The life insurance benefit will be paid to the beneficiaries chosen by the policyholder.

Compensation for a critical illness is paid out immediately after the covered illness has been diagnosed. Compensation for a permanent disability caused by an accident may be paid out one year after the accident or earlier if the permanent nature of the disability can be confirmed.

The compensation does not need to be used to pay medical treatment expenses and can be spent on anything you wish. For example, you can use the sum to pay for the best possible care, to purchase the necessary assistive devices, to renovate your home to accommodate your illness or disability, or for taking personal leave to help your recovery.

The life insurance benefit helps your loved ones by providing additional financial security and help with paying inheritance taxes, for example.
