The best insurance for your baby
By taking out extensive insurance for your baby already during pregnancy, any illnesses discovered after birth will not affect the content of your child’s insurance. After birth, the insurance continues automatically as the child’s health insurance.
Cover for the expectant mother
During pregnancy, the insurance covers public healthcare costs and medications so that you can focus on yourself and the baby without worrying about costly bills. We cover the costs of treating gestational diabetes, for example.
Versatile healthcare services at your disposal
After birth, the baby’s insurance covers the costs of both public and private healthcare to ensure fast access to professional care.

Congratulations - a baby on its way!
Soon you will be able to hold your baby in your arms. When the little baby arrives, I’m sure we all want to offer him or her nothing but the best. Baby insurance, i.e. a yet unborn child’s health and living allowance insurance grows with your child and remains valid until 100 years of age. An insurance policy taken out during pregnancy will give your baby coverage against illnesses and accidents throughout their lifetime.
We recommend that you insure your baby already before birth. You can apply for an unborn child’s policy after the screening for structural foetal anomalies all the way up to the beginning of the birth of the child. The mother must be under 46 years of age at the calculated date of birth and participated in all offered prenatal examinations and screens.
The insurance for an unborn child is granted based on the mother’s health declaration. After you have calculated the price and purchased the insurance policy online, we will send you a health declaration, which you will need to fill in and submit to the op.fi service within two days. If the insurance policy can be granted, it will be valid from the date when the health declaration was filled in.
Baby insurance also brings security to the mother
Taking out a policy for an unborn child also brings security to the child’s mother. Insurance for an unborn child also covers the mother’s treatment expenses in public healthcare and medication costs if the baby or mother are diagnosed with an illness or condition that is not part of normal pregnancy and whose treatment is vital for the child’s health.
Are you a mother who loves to travel? This is ok also during pregnancy. If you travel when pregnant, remember to take out a travel policy both for yourself and your unborn child.
I have a peace of mind and I can concentrate on my pregnancy! If something happens during pregnancy or childbirth, my unborn child is covered by insurance.
Choose the easier option with children in the family
If there is an accident or the child falls ill, it is comforting to know that the insurance for an unborn child is valid right from birth. The insurance covers visits to the doctor, examinations and medication, whether you choose public or private health care. A comprehensive health insurance taken out before birth can serve at its best throughout the lifetime, from school, via independence to adulthood.
Baby insurance will also bring help to your child or family at home. By including the Home Help package in your coverage, you can, for example, ask a doctor or nurse to make a home call or hire a nanny if a physician orders your ill child in daycare age to be treated at home. Supplementary Medical Treatment Cover included in an insurance for a foetus covers the costs of recovering from an illness or injury. Supplementary Medical Treatment Cover covers the costs of therapy and rehabilitation such as physiotherapy and functional therapy.

You can apply for an unborn child’s policy after the screening for structural foetal anomalies all the way up to the beginning of the birth of the child. The mother must be under 46 years of age at the calculated date of birth and participated in all offered prenatal examinations and screens to determine the child’s state of health. The mother’s health declaration determines whether a policy for an unborn child can be granted.
If you want to apply for a health and living allowance insurance policy with the same coverage only after the child’s birth, a decision will be made on the basis of the child’s own health declaration. This means that any of the child’s diseases that have emerged may also affect the extent of coverage offered. However, a policy may be granted even if the child is not entirely healthy.
We will send you an electronic health declaration form in the op.fi service within two weekdays of confirming your insurance purchase. If the insurance can be granted based on the information you give in the health declaration, it will take effect on the date when you submitted the declaration.
The insurance is issued by Pohjola Insurance Ltd.
