Congratulations - a baby on its way!
Soon you will be able to hold your baby in your arms. When the little baby arrives, I’m sure we all want to offer him or her nothing but the best. A baby insurance, that is, a yet unborn child’s health and living allowance insurance, will give your baby coverage against illnesses and accidents throughout their lifetime. We recommend that you take out the policy already before the birth.
You can apply for an unborn child’s policy after the screening for structural foetal anomalies all the way up to the beginning of the birth of the child. The mother must be under 46 years of age at the calculated date of birth and participated in all offered prenatal examinations and screens.
Baby insurance also brings security to the mother
Taking out a policy for an unborn child also brings security to the child’s mother. The policy also covers the expecting mother’s medical treatment expenses when they are necessary for the baby’s state of health. The baby insurance will cover, for example, treatment of gestational diabetes, so you can concentrate on your baby without worrying about expenses.
Are you a mother who loves to travel? This is ok also during pregnancy. If you travel when pregnant, remember to take out a travel policy both for yourself and your unborn child.
I have a peace of mind and I can concentrate on my pregnancy! If something happens during pregnancy or childbirth, my unborn child is covered by insurance.
Choose the easier option with children in the family
If there is an accident or the child falls ill, it is comforting to know that the insurance for an unborn child is valid right from birth. The insurance covers visits to the doctor, examinations and medication, whether you choose public or private health care. A comprehensive health insurance taken out before birth can serve at its best throughout the lifetime, from school, via independence to adulthood.
Baby insurance will also bring help to your child or family at home. You can, for example, ask a doctor or nurse to make a home call or hire a nanny if a doctor orders your ill child in daycare age to be treated at home. A health insurance policy taken out for an unborn child compensates throughout the lifetime a range of therapies, such as physiotherapy and occupational therapy that supports recovery from an illness or injury.
You can apply for an unborn child’s policy after the screening for structural foetal anomalies all the way up to the beginning of the birth of the child. The mother must be under 46 years of age at the calculated date of birth and participated in all offered prenatal examinations and screens to determine the child’s state of health. The mother’s health declaration determines whether a policy for an unborn child can be granted.
If you want to apply for a health and living allowance insurance policy with the same coverage only after the child’s birth, a decision will be made on the basis of the child’s own health declaration. This means that any of the child’s diseases that have emerged may also affect the extent of coverage offered. However, a policy may be granted even if the child is not entirely healthy.
You can fill in a health declaration online when buying a policy.
The insurance is issued by Pohjola Insurance Ltd.
