Finnish Psychological Association insurance benefits

As a member of the Finnish Psychological Association, you are entitled to discounts on your home and family insurance policies as follows:

Home insurance

Our home insurance conveniently provides coverage for your home and home contents on a single policy. Home insurance protects your home and holiday home, as well as their contents, from burglary, fire and sudden damage due to leakage, for example. The insurance also provides the home insurance required for rented homes.

Patient insurance

The insurance covers personal injuries that occur in connection with healthcare or medical treatment in accordance with the Patient Injury Act. You belong within the scope of the Patient Insurance if you are self employed. Claims are handled by the Finnish Patient Insurance Centre. This policy is valid in Finland.

Professional liability and legal expenses insurance

Professional liability and legal expenses insurance covers members of the Association when working as a psychologist or performing an equivalent employment or public service relationship or profession.

Members who have joined the Union during the insurance period will be insured from the beginning of their membership.

General liability insurance covers bodily injury and material damage caused to a third party in the insured operations and within the territorial limits of the insurance. The maximum amount of compensation is EUR 100,000 per loss.

Legal expenses insurance covers any necessary and reasonable legal expenses incurred as a result of resorting to legal counsel in a disputed civil case, criminal case or non-contentious civil case. The maximum amount of compensation is EUR 15,000 per loss event.

The coverable insurance event must concern the member’s activities as a psychologist. The insurance event may concern the member’s employment or public service relationship, equivalent service relationship, the member’s activities as a sole proprietor, or the practice of a psychologist’s profession as a business, provided that the business consists solely of the practitioner without employed personnel.

The insurance cover is valid throughout the Nordic countries.

Organisational insurance

Organisational insurance is an insurance package customised for members of the Association and which includes subsidiary comprehensive motor vehicle insurance and travel insurance in meetings and events organised by the Finnish Psychological Association.

Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance insures vehicles owned by or permanently in the possession of the Association’s members and officials, provided that the vehicles are registered for private use or temporarily leased or borrowed within Finland and the vehicle in question is a passenger car or van up to 15 years old and used for organisational activities for which the Association pays compensation in accordance with its travelling expenses regulations. The insurance policy is subsidiary and compensation under it is paid only in the event that no other vehicle-specific or other motor vehicle insurance policy exists for the insured vehicle.

Travel insurance included in organisational insurance is a form of group insurance taken out by the Association and valid in meetings of the Association’s board and Association meetings, summer and winter get-togethers, training events, seminars, theatre excursions and other events organised by the Association for its members. The validity of insurance requires that a decision concerning the event or excursion in question has been recorded in the board meeting minutes or corresponding document. In addition to the aforementioned events, the insurance is valid also on immediate journeys to and from said events. The insurance is valid worldwide. The travel insurance includes not only traveller's insurance but luggage insurance / travel liability and legal expenses insurance as well.
